Our church site is turning out to be one of our favorites ever. Both the mother church pastor and the church plant pastor are so passionate about reaching the lost. They are both very humble and seemingly tireless. After yesterday's rain and massive amounts of mud, my white Keds were caked with thick mud. When I arrived today, Pastor Hurbert noticed my dirty shoes and was appalled. He speaks a limited amount of English but I thought he was trying to say that I needed to wash my shoes. Well, at the end of the day, back at the hotel, he insisted that I remove my shoes and give them to him so that he could wash them and bring them back tomorrow. In my mind, that's the equivalent of washing my feet. He is truly a servant. I've been watching him interact with the people that we meet. He is sincere, kind, friendly, a passionate proclaimer of truth, and very hands-on. In my limited experience, he's the best mission point pastor I've ever worked with on a mission trip. Now, hopefully he returns with my shoes in the morning - I hope he wasn't trying to tell me that he's planning to burn them, which is what I was considering doing when I got home!
