I slept 'til 10am today. The house was totally silent. My bedroom was the perfect temperature. Just cool enough to be covered up with a sheet. I had the whole bed to myself. The phone didn't ring. No knocks on the door. Nowhere to be at any certain time and nothing urgent to get done. So now it's 10:45pm and I'm wide awake. Could be the iced tea I had at dinner. Or it could be the luxurious amount of rest I had last night...
I had dinner with Joshua & Alyssa. We went to the Texaz Grill. It's on the corner of 16th Street & Bethany Home Rd. I've driven past it a million times and never had the urge to stop in. Their claim to fame is their chicken fried steak - they keep a running tally on their sign out front. 656,619 and counting. They've been in Phoenix for 20 some years. I'm pretty certain they fry everything in bacon grease. Lots of potential heart attack victims walked thru the doors while we were there. I had the chicken fried chicken. Gravy. Steak fries. Cole slaw. Alyssa and Joshua had steak. We shared peach cobbler. It was good, not great. I must say that the best peach cobbler right now is at Coco's. Actually, my mom makes a fantastic peach dessert called Peach Kuchen. She has been making it for at least 20 years. You can use canned or fresh peaches. It is always delectable.
