We ate lunch at Long Wongs today. Long Wongs is a Phoenix institution, known far and wide for their wings. We were lured in by the sign that advertised pizza for $5. As an after-thought we decided to try the infamous wings too. They were very good. Deep fried to crispy perfection then doused in an orangey-red, medium buffalo sauce. Nice and messy, served on cheap paper plates. We shared an order of French fries too (token vegetable). Best quote of the day came from my 44yr old boy (@daninreallife) while devouring his pile of wings, "you know they're messy when you have to wipe your face with a French fry." He's right, you know. You wouldn't want waste all that good sauce on a napkin when you could just pop that sauce-flavored fry in your mouth.
We sat at a large, round "wood" table in the middle of the tiny dining room and watched two different NFL games on beat-up big screen TVs. We cheered when Denver won and didn't care so much when Dallas won.
Long Wongs is a fascinating place. Wild decor in the parking lot. Interesting customers. The walls were loaded with retro/hippy kitschy collectibles. I could have taken photos of many fascinating items but chose to focus my attention on this clock. Don't you just love it?
